June 2010 Home Sales Statistics - Median Price UpThere were 77 homes sold in June 2010. That's down 16% from the 92 sold the previous month. It's a decrease of 9% from June 2009, and down 14% from June 2008. There were 1571 homes on the market for sale in June 2010. That's up 8% from the previous month, down 1% from one year ago, and down 6% from the same month two years ago. Source: Santa Fe Association of Realtors® MLS (7/14/10). In national news, the last week of June saw average interest on a 30-year fixed mortgage fall to an all-time low of 4.69%. And the U.S. Commerce Department reported previous month sales of new homes tumble 33 percent, the biggest drop on record. I believe that both the decline in new home sales, and the increase in Santa Fe's median price (for the past two months), reflect the April 30th cessation of the first time home buyer tax credit.
